Hello Everyone!
We wanted to send you an update on our service project and the IMPACT we made in the community last weekend!! Pass this along to your network! Have a great and safe holiday season!
YBLA Helps Hundreds with Gift Cards
YBLA, with the help of generous donors, shared the Christmas Spirit with more than 400 families this past weekend. The pandemic has created a serious economic hardship for far too many in Charlotte. To that end, YBLA engaged in a project to provide $50 Harris Teeter gift cards to as many families as possible.
Our initial goal was to raise $15,000 to help 300 households. We are thrilled to report that we exceeded our goal! YBLA fundraising in December resulted in more than $25,000 donated, providing cards for more than 500 households.
We give special thanks to Truliant for donating $1,000 to sponsor 20 families. Deloitte donated $5,000 to sponsor 100 families. Andrea Smith, CAO of Bank of America, and her husband Sean generously donated $10,000, which sponsored 200 families. Other individuals and groups contributed, as well. Each dollar helped to increase the impact of the event.
The cards were distributed in an almost festive drive-by event in the parking lot of the YBLA office on Saturday, December 19. Registration was required to receive a card and on Saturday, 429 cards were distributed to help 1,544 individuals.
