Committed to Making a Difference
DOMINICAN MISSION TRIP
The YBLA 2017 Mission trips were truly transformational, life changing experiences. This year we were able to take a mission trip to Dominican Republic and Haiti. The mission teams spent time washing the feet and providing shoes, prayers and hugs to over 1,000 children of Haiti and Dominican Republic. The trip allowed the young leaders to gain valuable international experience, learn about diverse cultures and exercise their leadership skills in very challenging environments.
SHOES OF HOPE
1,000 SHOES PROVIDED
Sharing Hope, Love & Inspiration
The YBLA mission team partnered with Samaritan’s Feet to perform three Shoes of Hope shoe distributions. The goal of the Shoes of Hope initiative is to bring a life-changing message of hope, love, and compassion to children around the world. Every time our young leaders sit across from a child, they not only meet their physical needs with a pair of shoes and socks, but they spend quality time with them asking about their dreams and their lives.
A NEW PERSPECTIVE
Terrence Graham
During my stay in Dominican Republic, I saw and experienced many eye-opening things and my perspective was broadened. One of the most memorable experiences I had was visiting Duquesa, otherwise known as "Trash City". The entire city of Santo Domingo dumps their trash near Duquesa so that there is a mountain of trash visible on the horizon. The people in Duquesa make their living recycling and reselling that trash, but they also live with trash everywhere.
YBLA COMPUTER LAB
Creating A New Reality
During our visit to Dominican Republic, YBLA was able to establish a computer lab for a local school. The lab included laptops, software and tablets. YBLA leaders also provided training for the children and adults.
