YLeader Service Projects

Over the course of three months, YLeaders have been organizing, planning, and meeting to develop their own Community Service Projects. From March 16 - March 30, 2019, these Service Projects were put into action. YLeaders completed these projects entirely on their own, only receiving direction and guidance by their Leadership Coaches during their YLeader sessions. 

YLeader's Impact:

  • 101 children from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools served,

  • 50 adults from the Charlotte community served,

  • 20 preschool students from the Charlotte community served,

  • 510 cumulative service hours completed,

  • 400 books collected and distributed,

  • 60 toiletries collected and distributed,

  • Proud YLeader parents!

When:     Sunday, March 17, 2019

Where:    Hospitality House of Charlotte

What:      Students gathered breakfast materials, transported them to Hospitality House of Charlotte, and cooked a full buffet breakfast for the residents there. 

Impact:    10+ residents

Where:    Crown Pointe Elementary School

What:      Students hosted a book drive to collect books for elementary school students. Then, on the day of the project, read those books to the students and donated them to the school.

Impact:    30 elementary school students

When:     Tuesday March 19-22, 2019

Where:    Superlative Academy

What:      Students revisited Superlative Academy four times over the course of this week. They reached out to the teachers of the Academy to figure out what the students there were currently learning, then put together lesson plans and activities to assist in teaching the students! Students also spent time playing with the daycare students.

Impact:    10 daycare students
